STORIES YOU CAN STEP ON

Questions, Honestly Answered

Our rugs come from real Anatolian looms and pass through our workshop before they reach your home. The answers below are written the same way — straight from the people who source, restore and ship every piece. If you can't find what you're looking for, we're one email away.

Authenticity & Origin

Where our rugs come from, how we restore them, and what makes them genuinely vintage.

Are your rugs really vintage and authentic?

Yes. Every rug in our catalogue is a genuine antique — hand-knotted decades ago in traditional Anatolian villages and then professionally restored in our workshop. We do not sell reproductions, machine-made rugs or new rugs designed to look old.

Why do some rugs say 'Persian-Style' instead of just 'Persian'?

'Persian-Style' refers to the design language — the medallions, floral fields and traditional palette long associated with classic Persian rugs. These pieces share that aesthetic and are listed with their actual origin shown on each product page.

What does 'professionally restored' mean?

Each vintage rug arrives at our workshop after decades of real use. Our team cleans it thoroughly, repairs any loose threads or weak edges, and stabilises the weave so the rug is ready for daily life in a modern home. Restoration preserves the rug's character — the softened colour, the patina — while making sure it is sound and safe to use.

Are the rugs hand-knotted?

Yes. Every rug is hand-knotted on a traditional loom, knot by knot — the centuries-old technique that gives these pieces their durability and the slight, honest irregularity that machine production cannot reproduce.

For standard orders to the United States, customs and duties are already handled — you will not be asked to pay anything extra on delivery. If anything ever changes, we will let you know before shipping.

Do you ship outside the US?

Our website is currently set up for shipping within the United States. If you are based elsewhere and want to order, please contact us first — we will let you know whether we can arrange delivery to your country.

Returns & Exchanges

Our 30-day return policy and how to start a return.

Can I return a rug if I change my mind?

Yes. You have 30 days from the day you receive your rug to return it for any reason — including simply changing your mind or finding it does not suit your space.

Who pays for return shipping?

We do. If you want to return your rug within the 30-day window, we cover the cost of return shipping. There are no restocking fees.

How do I start a return?

Simply send us an email with your order number and we will arrange the return shipping for you. We try to respond within one business day.

When will I get my refund?

Your refund is issued as soon as the rug arrives back at our workshop and we confirm its condition. It usually takes a few business days for the refund to appear on your card after that.

Care & Cleaning

How to keep your vintage rug looking its best for years.

How do I clean my vintage rug?

For everyday care, gentle vacuuming is enough — ideally without a rotating beater bar, which can be hard on older wool. For dust, a soft brush or a careful shake outdoors works well. Avoid soaking the rug or machine-washing it.

What do I do if I spill something?

Act quickly. Blot the spill with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub, since rubbing pushes the liquid deeper into the wool. If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with cool water (no detergent) and continue blotting. For larger or older stains, a professional rug cleaner is the safest choice.

Can I use a rug pad underneath?

Yes — a rug pad is a good idea. It keeps the rug from sliding, protects the wool from wear, and adds a little extra comfort underfoot. Choose a felt or natural-rubber pad sized slightly smaller than your rug.

Is direct sunlight a problem?

Long-term exposure to strong direct sun can gradually fade any natural-dye rug. If your rug sits in a sunny spot, it is a good habit to rotate it every few months so any fading stays even.

Choosing the Right Rug

Practical guidance on size, colour and what each listing tells you.

Will the rug look exactly like the photos?

Yes. Every photo on our product pages shows the actual rug you will receive — not a stock image or a sample. Because each rug is a genuine antique, what you see is what arrives.

My rug has small signs of wear — is that normal?

Yes. These are genuine vintage rugs, and a soft patina, gentle fading or small marks of age are part of their character. Any meaningful wear, distressing or noticeable stains are clearly described on the product page, so there are no surprises.

What size rug should I choose for my room?

As a quick guide: in a living room, the rug should reach at least under the front legs of your sofa and chairs. In a dining room, it should extend beyond the table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. In a bedroom, either a large rug that extends past both sides and the foot of the bed, or smaller rugs on each side. Each product listing shows exact measurements.

How do I pick the right colour for my space?

Start with the largest fixed elements in the room — your walls, sofa and main wood tones — and pick a rug that either matches their warmth (warm woods with red, orange or brown rugs) or balances them (cool greys and whites with blue, green or beige rugs). When in doubt, neutrals like beige, brown and faded grey work in almost any room.
